The reveal of Transylvania
1. day: Gyulafehérvár - Nagyszeben
Gyulafehérvár - The survey of the Roman Catholic Saint Michael Cathedral and the neighbouring orthodox temple; walk round the burg. Lodging in the town or in neighbors.
2. day: Brassó - Prázsmár - Gelence - Kézdivásárhely
Travelling in the valley of the Olt river, along the Fogarasi Mountains to Brassó, which was the merchants' town for centuries. The most important sight of Brassó is the imposing Black church (Fekete templom). After a walk in the downtown you can visit the saxon fortification church in Prázsmár, which is 17 km far from Brassó. We continue our trip towards Gelence where we can visit a church which was built in the Roman period and it constitutes a part of the world heritage. Kézdivásárhely - walk in the intact downtown built in eclectic style. Lodging in the town or in the neighborhood.
3. day: Szent Anna lake - Tusnád (spa) - Csango villages in Gyimes
Szent Anna lake - a picturesque volcanic lake in a hight of 850 m above sea level. Tusnád an elegant spa of the old Monarchy, it became famous for its mineral water springs. In the Olt valley we reach the Csíki-basin. Through the Csango villages, well-known for their folk arts, we reach the Csíki Mountains and the millennial border. Lodging in the town or in vicinity.
4. day: Csíksomlyó - Lázár castle - Gyilkos lake - Békás pass
In Csíksomlyó we visit the wellknown Roman Catholic Church, and the statue of the wonder-worker Virgin Mary. Commemoration at the monument in Madéfalva. In Gyergyószárhegy you can visit the Lázár family's renaissance castle, where Bethlen Gábor was brought up, and you can view the exhibition of fine arts. Through the wonderful landscape of the Gyergyói mountains you arrive to Gyilkos lake; ramble in the lakeside. You can continue your travel to Békás-szoros to enjoy the cliffs, short walk among the cliffs of the canyon.
5. day: Máréfalva - Székelyudvarhely - Farkaslaka - Korond
Going along the main road of Hargita county towards the hart of Székelyland; at Máréfalva you find many beautiful carved and painted székely gates. Walk inthe center of Székelyudvarhely (temples, town-hall, gymnasium). At the Szejkefürdő you can view the collection of székely gates and the memorial of the famous etnographer Orbán Balázs. In Farkaslaka travellers use to stop at the grave of Tamási Áron, than in Korond which is renowned for its folk arts and pottery (the village is like a large market). Lodging in Korondon or in the neighborhood.
6. day: Parajd - Szováta - Segesvár
At Parajd you can visit the salt mine. At Szováta you can swim in the salty water of the Medve-tó(Bear lake), walk in the town which is a holiday resort. At Segesvár - survey of the ancestral saxon settlement's monumental quarter (tower, the hous of Drakula, the gothic monastery).
7. day: Marosvásárhely - Kolozsvár - Körösfő - Bánffyhunyad
At Marosvásárhely survey of the historical center of the town: The Roses' Square, Cultural Centre, Bolyai Gymnasium. At Kolozsvár, in the spiritual and cultural center of Transylvania, you can visit the gothic Saint Michael Cathedral, Mátyás king's statue, the Reformed church in the Farkas Street, and the Házsongrádi graveyard. At Körösfő you can stop to admire folk embroidery. In Bánffyhunyad - visiting the reformed church which has a wooden tower. Returning home in Berettyóújfalu - Szolnok route.
